A dirty job

It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it!  Third graders get dirty sorting the cans and bottles.  Lot's of slimy yogurt and milk products were mixed in with the recyclable materials.

Another View

Here is another view of our tree.  It's a neat view, isn't it?
Do you think it will lose all it's leaves in the winter?  I wonder if the wood is good for burning in campfires.  We can probably figure out when the tree was planted by asking an expert like Mr. Duerr.

Recess Fun

These girls were pretending they were on stage!  What a great way to spend your recess!

Veteran's Day Chapel

The sixth grade did a tremendous job leading chapel today.  Emotional veteran's stood and encouraged students to be thankful for the men and women who have chosen to serve their country in the the military.  Many teachers walked away with tears in their eyes.  The emotional chapel was a blessing to all.

Isn't this turkey cute!

He was made in Mrs. Ellwein's room.

Friends

Perhaps the highest point on the play ground?  These girls took a moment to smile for the camera.  I think they look happy!

Our Tree

We have our own tree!   Students recorded the circumference of the trunk and other details.  They will track the progress of the tree as they grow at Salem.  On this day, Nov. 8, 2011, the tree's circumference is 50 cm.

Stuffed Animal Project

Students are eagerly working on their stuffed animal project.  This student wrote in her writer's notebook about her little lion.  She told us what the lion likes to do and eat.  She is now storyboarding a movie.  She will take pictures of the animal doing the different things she described and create a fun movie to watch.

Papua New Guinea

Pastor and Mrs. Dahlia came to Salem to share their journey as bible translators in Papua New Guinea.  We learned that Papua New Guinea is a large island off the coast of Australia.  They live very different lives than we do here in America. We are grateful for Pastor and his wife for following God's call and bringing God's word to other nations.
